A Long Lost Career

Did you know that there used to be careers based around a lot of things that computers do today? Thinks like checking in on bank routing numbers and transfering phone calls were all done by humans before.

Isn’t that wild? I can not imagine a world that worked like that. It was not even all that long ago that these things changed. Our parents probably remember having to contact the operator to get through to their neighbor’s house.

It is good that all this has changed because there are so many things that are improved by having computers do the work.

Mostly it comes down to speed. You see, people used to be able to steal money from banks because they would put routing numbers in from across the country. That would delay the process of checking in on the account. The fraud could then happen without anyone knowing for weeks.
